Tokyo & LA again… not that I mind
From the start, this seems to be a good trip, got a good boss, got my friend Chris on the flight, then I realize that Marcus is on the flight too. Then, there are Chen and Florence, who are super nice from my previous encounters with them, and my SEP “gf” of course, Joanna. People gradually opened up, and they were all very friendly and helpful. Funny of course, they are a great company, I haven had such a fun flight in a while… all the craziness, nonstop nonsense, being so game to try and go for everything and nonstop teasing and kajiaoing each other. I had a lot of fun, we had a lot of fun.
In LA, we went out to Santa Monica together, used to hear so much about the beach, but when we reach there, it was a little disappointing, it wasn't as fantastic as I thought it would be, but there was a different feel to it. There’s something melancholic about the beach. Its one of the widest beach I ever seen, there is probably a few hundred metres of the beach before u actually reach the sea… despite the chilly weather, people still hang out at the beach, family activities, volleyballing, suntanning etc. few of us took out our shoes to walk in the water… was super cold but the sand there was a bit different… some kind of surreal feeling, solid yet soft, sank a little when we walked on it, so fine that you cant tell its sand and it amazingly gave a very good reflection like a mirror for a beach. We came across a cemetery on the beach itself, which was pretty startling as it wasn't something you come across everyday. Maybe tts what gave it its melancholic feel. It was something which was to commemorate the war dead and injured. Pictures and namelists were put up indicating what the soldiers had contributed, their nature of death and injury whilst on war duties in Afghanistan and Iraq. Americans are fiercely patriotic people, I guess.
Lunch was carried out at Bubba Gump, they have very good seafood, especially shrimps which Chris said that was something which we absolutely must have in our cafe next time. Next was shopping at the Third Street Promenade, AnF was pretty disappointing this time round as there was absolutely nothing to buy and nothing worth taking a second look.
On the way back to Tokyo, Chen was teasing me and Joanna all the way, and keep trying to matchmake us and say we should be together. Although, she is attached now, I gotta admit that I had a very small crush on her when we did sep together last year. Today, was a major Japanese lunch buffet with the whole gang. The itinerary planned was shopping at Ueno, Harajuku then back to Shinjuku… more nonsense to follow I guess.. not that I mind
Harajuku, the girls went crazy, totally amazed by the fashion on display, though disappointed that there weren’t much Harajuku girls that were about. It's the weekdays afterall. But we were so full from the buffet lunch that we couldn't even think about eating the famed crepes… and from Harajuku, we trooped down to Shibuya and camped at the Starbucks to look in amazement the people crossing the famous traffic junction. Secretly snapping pictures along the way, and in the end we went berserk too joining the crowd in the street and running ard and snapping photos before the man turns red. That pretty much ended our little adventure as we went to Ueno to get the tidbits before heading back… such fun I haven’t had for a while…
