Fragility of Mankind

Today, we played a soccer match against NTU Hall 6. This match certainly left a deep impression on me as it will not be remembered as a match which we won. Neither was it made significant that Jit Tong was playing as guest player for Hall 6 team. But the most glaring incidents which left a deep imprint in my memory are the injuries which happened during the match. Reminding me of the fragility of human.

The first misfortunate accident was that Lee Bart was rammed in the face by a zhiwei's clearance... Without any warning... he was left clutching at his right eye as the nose support of his spectacles poke through his eye lips and the spectacles were dangling from the eye itself. How freaky can that be... the match was halted and Lee Bart was rushed to the clinic for consultation. Second half started without him and 2/3 thru into the half, yizhou received a through pass and he tried to round the keeper and score. Score he did but the goalkeeper was rolling on the floor with blood splattered all over his face. First glance, we thought it was his ears that got smashed but it turned out to be his lips... think he knocked against yizhou's knees and the top half of the lips splited 4 ways... blood was gushing... freaking scary.... Later, yizhou's knee was discovered to be suffering from a deep cut also by the teeth...think the teeth bit into his flesh and he couldn't walk properly after that as the wound bled non-stop too...

Too bizzare... we called off the match... freaky day with freaky accidents... An innocent soccer game made the rest of us witnessed the fragility of mankind.. how easily we can get hurt and injured... and by our own inventions as well... Guess it made people feel bad but yet at the same time... some relief that the injured party is not ourself... The poor goalkeeper, i think he is going to need stitching and gonna be scarred for life...

This match today reminded me of the 9/11 incident and the recent London bombing... Why don't people treasure lives...
